Medieval Magic and Naming the Spirits
Several techniques practiced by medieval magicians and astrologers are available.
Level of Being (falak and nujum)
- There are two variations of this technique:
- Middle East version practiced by Arabs. In that version only native's name and mother's names are used.
- Agrippa's method - in this version native's name, mother's and father's names are used.
Naming of Spirits
The methods presented here are used by ibn Ezra and Agrippa.
- Finding the name of the Good Spirit
- First method relies on the Almutem of the 11th house.
- The second method is based on calculating Almutems of the specified quadrant.
- In both cases, the names will be generated in Hebrew. Approximate Latin transliteration is also provided for your reference.
